The Foundation of Wellness:

breathing, eating, speaking better.

At Jessica’s Speech and Feeding Therapy, my mission is to provide holistic, compassionate therapy that gets to the root cause of speech, feeding, and oral development issues. I partner with families to create a clear and careful path toward helping their children thrive.

Providing Answers & Solutions for Your Child

My Personal Journey

As a speech-language pathologist, I have a deep understanding of the challenges children face when their foundational development is impacted. My personal journey began in childhood when I experienced firsthand the effects of untreated mouth breathing, a tongue thrust, high and narrow palate, a tongue tie, and crowded teeth—from difficulty focusing in school to chronic tiredness. Despite receiving a palate expander and a tongue tie release as an older child and a septoplasty in adulthood, the experience left a lasting impression on me. I realized that my own attention and learning challenges were likely connected to these early structural deficits. This experience revealed the crucial importance of early intervention and education, which is now the driving force behind my practice. My goal is to prevent other children from having to navigate these challenges, offering the proactive support and holistic care that I wish I had received.

A Holistic Approach

I don’t just treat a single symptom. I look at your child’s entire well-being—from how they sleep and breathe, to their oral-motor development. I also collaborate with other trusted providers (ENT, airway focused dentists, orthodontists) to ensure your child gets comprehensive support for a healthy foundation that lasts a lifetime. If you suspect your child may have a feeding, breathing, or speech challenge, let’s connect.

What to Expect

Step 1: Free Phone Consultation

This initial phone call is an opportunity for you to share your concerns about your child. I’ll discuss your child’s needs and determine if an in-person evaluation is the right next step.

Step 2: Comprehensive In-Person Evaluation

During this one-hour, in-home visit, I conduct a thorough assessment that goes beyond surface-level observations. This includes:

  • A parent questionnaire to understand your child’s unique history and needs.
  • An oral mechanism exam to assess the function of your child’s tongue, lips, and jaw.
  • A feeding observation to identify any underlying issues.
  • A detailed sleep and breathing screening.

Step 3: A Collaborative Treatment Plan

We begin therapy sessions based on a schedule that works for your family. Within 2-3 weeks, you will receive a comprehensive evaluation report. This report is shared with other trusted providers at your request, ensuring a team-based approach to your child’s care. Sessions are typically 1-2 times per week for 30-45 minutes, based on your child’s tolerance and needs. These sessions can be conducted in your home or at your child’s daycare.

Your journey with me is a partnership. I want you to feel fully supported, so I am always available via text message, and phone calls can be scheduled as needed. I also set up every family with a shared drive of therapy videos and photos to help you track your child’s progress and confidently carry over our work at home.

Step 4: Building Your Child’s Care Team

As part of my holistic approach, I will refer your child to other necessary providers for a more in-depth assessment. This may include:

  • Airway-Focused Dentists: These professionals can assess the structure and growth of your child’s palate and jaw, as well as the oral resting posture of the tongue. Their role is to ensure your child has the ideal space and foundation for proper breathing and swallowing.
  • Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) Physicians: They can perform a thorough examination of your child’s adenoids, tonsils, and nasal passages to rule out any structural barriers to healthy breathing.
  • Orthodontists: In some cases, orthodontists who focus on functional growth can assist with expanding the jaw to create more space for the tongue and improve the overall facial structure.
  • Occupational Therapists: These specialists can address any underlying body tension or sensory issues that may be impacting your child’s oral function and overall development.

Let’s turn tiny struggles into big milestones!
